Hold On To Hope

It’s easy to lose it.

Or to let go of it when discouragement weighs us down.

Or to lay it down and forgot where we put it when we’re weary and tired.

Or to wonder if it’s even worth carrying it around any longer.

Hope.

Hope it’s essential to pack on this journey of life. And we need a full dose of it. Every single day.

Without it, we probably won’t get very far. But if we do, we won’t arrive at our destination very joyful or encouraged.

No one will want to journey with us. Absence of hope makes one miserable. And everyone around him or her.

Hope is what keeps us going. It’s what encourages us on the toughest of days, and lightens our spirits when the dark tries to engulf us.

It’s what helps us to keep on keeping on.

Friend, no matter what you may be walking through today on your journey, hold on to hope.

Hold on to hope

Hang on to it tight. Don’t loosen your grip on it. No matter what.

Then share it with another so it multiplies. It’ll become a beacon shining the way for many.

And what a beautiful beacon it will be!

Hold on to hope.

Blessings,

Julie

Live The Perhaps

“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.”  –Henry David Thoreau

It’s okay to live the “perhaps.”

It's okay to live the perhaps

perhaps ::  possibly; maybe; feasibly; for all one knows

Perhaps you are called to do something different.

Perhaps you weren’t meant to blend in, but were meant to stand out.

Perhaps God designed you unlike anyone else, and your special-ness is nothing short of amazing.

Perhaps you’ve given up on comparing yourself to others because you’re focused on living out your purpose.

Perhaps the drummer you hear is playing a unique song, just for you to follow.

Perhaps you are taking changes, living in the moment, embracing life brave, blessing others, and making a difference.

And perhaps your life is rubbing off on someone else. And their life is better because of you.

Just because everyone else is going a contrasting direction, that doesn’t mean you and I need to follow. It’s quite possible you and I were meant to follow a different beat, a different drummer, a different “perhaps.”

We get one chance on this journey. May you and I make the most of it. May we embrace each step, each part, each perhaps. And encourage others on our path to do the same.

It’s okay to live the “perhaps.”

Blessings,

Julie

It’s Day 27 of 31 Days #EmbracingTheJourney. It’s a beautiful day on the path of life to celebrate the “perhaps.” (Even though I’m writing this while it’s raining!) Let’s live the perhaps. Thank you for spending a few minutes with me today.

Listen For The Whisper

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.” –Steve Jobs

There’s much in the above quote I appreciate, and much I can apply to my daily life.

Live my life… not someone else’s.

Live with the results of my own thinking… not someone else’s.

Listen to the whisper of God… not to the noise of other’s opinions.

Be courageous.

Listen for the whisperSomewhere along this path of life, we may find it can be easy to look at someone else’s life and think he/she has it better. We can begin to compare lives… theirs versus ours. That’s probably not the healthiest practice to get into.

Live our own lives.

Or we find we get caught up in the results of other people’s thoughts, which can take us down rabbit trails and dead ends. Just because another thinks one way, that’s not necessarily the way we are all supposed to think.

Do our own thinking.

Or maybe we’ve realized we’ve been listening to the noise of other’s opinions… of ourselves, what we do, how we do it, etc. And we let that control every move we make. We listen to the noise and not the whisper of God.

Listen for the whisper.

Could it be that living courageously is a natural result of living out these three areas successfully?

I’d like to at least be reminded to practice them daily.

Be encouraged today…

Live your own life. Do your own thinking. Listen for the whisper.

Blessings!

Avoid The Crash

We’ve been #EmbracingTheJourney for 25 days now. Goodness we’ve shared a lot together on this adventure.

Everything from colors, to storms, to homes, to joy. We have six days left of embracing!

But one thing we haven’t touched on is taking care of ourselves on this journey.

This is, by all means, a must.

I imagine I’m not the only one who has deprived myself of sleep, who has burned the candle at both ends, who has met myself coming and going, who has lived on junk food for a season, who has cared for everyone else but myself.

And I also am guessing I’m not the only one who has suffered under stress, has been too busy to exercise, has skipped doing anything for myself in weeks, and has worked too many days in a row.

I realize I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. But when we attempt to exist in this mode for too long, we get to the point we become exhausted, weary, our health takes a toll, and oftentimes we crash.

Crashing is never a pleasant experience. I know, because I’ve done it. More times than I care to admit.

We aren’t wired to live like that, are we? We can embrace the journey much better when we take care of ourselves.

And avoid the crash.

Avoid the crash

We know what to do, but life gets on a roll and we are too busy to stop. Or we forget. Or we just think, “Maybe this time will be different.”

Let’s take a long look at our lives today. Are we on our way to the next crash? What can we do today to avoid it? Take a nap? Take a walk? Eat carrots instead of carrot cake? Do something to bring you joy? Take a day off?

Being proactive and taking steps to avoid the crash is better and easier than recovering after it’s already happened.

Find one thing you can do for yourself today. I’d love to read what it is. Who knows… it may just be the answer for someone else along the way to avoid the crash.

Blessings!

Julie

Day 25 of 31 Days #EmbracingTheJourney. Today I’m going to rest, and spend time with family. That’s how I’m going to avoid the crash. I’d love to read yours below!
